Lane's Hot Rubs Six Pack
Six full-size Lane's rubs built as a heat ladder — SPG with no chilli at the bottom, up through Prime, Sweet Heat and Honey Sriracha, to Magic Dust Hot and Nashville Hot at the top. Around 716 g in total.
The Lane's Hot Rubs Six Pack brings together six full-size tubs, around 716 g of seasoning in total. It is built as a heat ladder. Not six versions of the same burn, but six blends that step up in stages, so you can find the level you actually cook at instead of guessing.
At the bottom is SPG, which has no chilli in it at all. It is in the pack as the base layer you put down first. From there it climbs through Prime and Sweet Heat, into the sweeter warmth of Honey Sriracha, then up to Magic Dust Hot and finally Nashville Hot at the top.
Lane's blends are made without preservatives, anti-caking agents or fillers. That is why they coat evenly and caramelise properly instead of sitting on the surface, and it is also why they need to be kept dry. There is nothing in the tub to stop them clumping.
Top 5 Facts — Lane's Hot Rubs
-
It is a ladder, not a wall of heat
SPG has no chilli, Prime and Sweet Heat carry a warm cayenne note, Honey Sriracha leads with sweetness, and only the last two are built to bite. -
Habanero is what steps Magic Dust Hot up
It is the original Magic Dust blend with chilli powder, cayenne and habanero added. The sweet, smoky base is still underneath it. -
Nashville Hot is the only one with no added sugar
Every other tub in the pack has sugar or honey in the blend. Nashville Hot is pepper, red pepper, cayenne, ginger, bay, sage and thyme, which is why it stays sharp instead of turning sticky. -
Prime is a steak rub with a chilli backbone
Espresso ancho chilli powder and cayenne sit under the salt, pepper, garlic and thyme. It reads as a beef rub first and a hot rub second. -
Two of them run on sriracha powder
Sweet Heat and Honey Sriracha both use it. That is where the clean, vinegary lift comes from, as opposed to the earthier heat of the ancho and habanero blends.

How to use
- Pat the meat dry before you season. A wet surface makes the rub slide instead of stick.
- Start lighter than you think with the top two. You can always dust more on at the end, but you cannot take it off.
- Lay SPG down first on big cuts, then put the hot rub over it. The base seasons the meat, the top layer brings the heat.
- Let the meat rest after seasoning so the salt has time to draw in.
- Go easy with the sugar-based blends over high direct heat, because the sugar will colour up fast and can catch.
- Nashville Hot has no sugar in it, so it handles a hot pan and a deep fryer better than the others.
- Use any of them as a finishing sprinkle as well as a rub. A light dust right before serving hits differently to heat that has been cooked in.
Storage & care tips
- Store the tubs sealed, in a cool dry spot out of direct sunlight.
- Keep them away from the stove and the kettle. Steam causes clumping and there are no anti-caking agents in these blends.
- Never shake a tub out over a steaming pan. Tip what you need into a bowl or a shaker first.
- Use a dry spoon, and keep a spoon that has touched raw meat out of the tub.
- Wash your hands after handling the hotter two. Chilli on the fingers finds your eyes later.
- If a blend clumps, break it up with a dry fork rather than throwing it out.
FAQs
Which is the hottest?
Nashville Hot, with Magic Dust Hot just under it. Nashville is sharper because there is no sugar to soften it, while Magic Dust Hot has a sweet, smoky base carrying the habanero.
Why is SPG in a hot pack?
Because it is the base layer. On brisket, ribs or a big pork shoulder you season with SPG first and put the hot rub over the top, so the meat is properly seasoned all the way through and the heat sits where you taste it.
I do not like much heat. Is this pack wasted on me?
No. Three of the six sit at the mild end, and SPG has no chilli at all. The pack is a good way to find your ceiling without buying six full tubs to get there.
What is the difference between Sweet Heat and Honey Sriracha?
Both use sriracha powder. Sweet Heat is built on brown sugar and paprika with a cayenne lift. Honey Sriracha leads with granulated honey, so it is sweeter up front and caramelises harder on the grill.
Can I buy the tubs individually?
Yes. All six are sold as singles, and Magic Dust Hot also comes in a 331 g tub.
Are they gluten free?
Not declared as gluten free. The tubs carry an allergen advisory for traces of soy, gluten (wheat) and peanut. Check the label on the tub if this matters for you.
