Salami String Spolette White

Traditional salami spolette in white. Italian made cotton twine on a compact spindle.

Salami twine is cotton string with a food safe finish, made for tying fresh sausage, salami and cured meats. It tightens securely around the product without cutting into or tearing the casing, and it is gentle enough on the hands to get through a long tying session.

Why two colours

White and red exist so you can tell your own product apart on the rail. A drying room full of salami all looks the same at week three, and a colour is a far more reliable marker than memory or a tag that falls off. White is the traditional default and the one that disappears against a mould coat, which is what most people want for their standard line.

Using it

Tie firm rather than tight. The product will shrink as it dries, so a string pulled hard on day one can cut into the casing by week two as the salami loses moisture and the twine does not.

Storage

Keep the spindle dry and off the floor. Cotton picks up moisture and anything else it is sitting in.
